三浦しをん『白いへび眠る島』（角川文庫）
とてもオーソドックスな成長物語、紛うことなき青春モノだ。その照れ臭いまでの輝きと、思春期特有の不恰好な心に、羨望と共感を覚えずにはいられない。
閉鎖的な離島を舞台に、不思議なできごとが描かれる。丹念に積み上げられた島の描写が、既視感を覚えるような不思議に説得力を与えている。無粋を承知で書けば、ここで描かれる島の不思議は、一種のイニシエーションとして機能している。そういう意味では、宮崎駿の『千と千尋の神隠し』
ともあれ、この島がいい。
精神的支柱としての神社、合理と非合理を併せ呑む風習や掟、常に畏怖の対象であり続けている自然。今となってはファンタジーでしかありえないような世界が目の前に広がっている。そこでは、伝説の物の怪も、不思議を見る少年も、神職を支える力も、不可視の神も、全てが同じ地平に存在することが許されている。
閉じた空間。それだけで完結した世界。ユートピアというのはディストピアでもある。良くも悪くも拘らずにはいられない場所。「家」や「村」が確固とした意味を有する世界。そこは帰るべき場所であり、逃げ出したい場所でもある。そんな島民たちの心のアンビバレンツが、13年に1度の大祭に不穏な影を落としていく。
祭、儀式、怪異、神、少年、力、絆…。
島の不思議は、心躍る冒険譚でもある。

This page seems to get a large ammount of visitors. How do you advertise it? It offers a nice individual spin on things. I guess having something real or substantial to say is the most important factor.
